Communities, corals and chickens – a training guide

Kyeema Foundation and Corals for Conservation are partnering with communities to enhance the climate resilience of coral reef ecosystems in the Pacific Islands through nature-based solutions.

Through the Climate Resilient by Nature-supported project, training resources have been developed to support communities to implement their own restoration efforts, thereby safeguarding vital ecosystem services provided by coral reefs including coastal protection, food security, strengthened biodiversity and economic benefits. To help relieve pressure on strained marine resources and support household food and income needs, a complementary training on chicken raising is also available.

Coral reef restoration

This four-part training draws on the UNESCO-endorsed Reefs of Hope methodology for identifying, collecting and propagating heat-adapted corals. Learn about hands-on techniques for reef rehabilitation, monitoring, and sustainable stewardship to support marine biodiversity and local livelihoods.

Chicken raising

This four-part training series is designed to help you successfully raise village chickens. It includes practical, step-by-step guidance on caring for your flock, improving chicken health and boosting productivity—ideal for smallholder farmers and community groups aiming to build resilient, thriving poultry systems.
