Blue food systems as a Nature-based Solution for Climate Resilience
Our latest report Blue Food Systems as a Nature-based Solution for Climate Resilience with University of Technology Sydney, Institute for Sustainable Futures (UTS-ISF) is now online.
This report unpacks the potential of community-led and managed blue foods including fish, algae, plants and more.
Many practices and approaches surrounding blue foods can already be considered nature-based solutions and support a mix of food security and livelihoods, conservation and climate resilience outcomes.
However, no system is perfectly balanced, and the degree to which these outcomes are achieved may vary. Drawing on two in-depth case studies from Fiji, the report explores community framings of blue food systems and their benefits. Blue Food System Thinking is then used to map out and understand the linkages between these outcomes, and their trade-offs.
Read the report to learn how this approach can help us design and deliver more adaptive and equitable blue food solutions and maximise conservation, livelihoods and food security, and climate resilience outcomes.
