This project is expanding nature-based solutions in the Pacific by working in collaboration with Indigenous communities to protect and restore critical ecosystems and build social, economic and climate resilience.

Through the nature-based solution of sustainable carbon finance, the project is supporting new and diverse income-generating opportunities that can benefit everyone within communities and grow the emerging high integrity carbon market in the region.

The project primarily uses the Nakau methodology — a purpose-built Pacific rainforest conservation finance program that empowers Indigenous communities to protect their forests while delivering social, financial, cultural and climate resilience benefits to customary landowners.

This project is funded under Component 1 of CRxN, supporting the expansion of existing nature-based solutions approaches.
