Blue Food Systems Thinking for Nature-Based Solutions in the Pacific.
Blue foods sourced from freshwater and marine ecosystems, including fish, shellfish, plants and algae play an important role in Pacific Island Countries and Territories. They are crucial for food security and livelihoods, and can deliver a range of additional benefits including biodiversity and conservation outcomes, climate mitigation and adaptation.
This learning event explores why food systems are a critical area of focus for nature-based solutions in the Pacific Region. Watch the recording below for a research presentation from Dr Federico Davila and Dr Laure-Elise Ruoso, University of Technology Sydney, Institute for Sustainable Futures (UTS-ISF), drawing on two in-depth case studies from Fiji. A panel discussion also explores how to support effective blue food systems practice for nature-based solutions in the Pacific, featuring Dr Shalini Singh from the Fiji National University; Teari Kaure, SPC and Unaisi Malani, WWF-Fiji.
